The Urban Group has extensive experience assisting private and public-sector clients following The Federal Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Act (URA) governing displaced individuals, families, non-profits, and businesses.

The URA is a series of provisions codified in 1971 to ensure fair, equitable, and ethical treatment of those displaced by federally funded or assisted programs that require property acquisition or displace people from their homes, businesses, or farms. We understand the challenges associated with Relocation and are committed to ensuring our services comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, protecting the rights of those impacted by this process.

That Department lists the Act’s essential objectives as follows:

  • To provide uniform, fair and equitable treatment of persons whose real property is acquired or who are displaced in connection with federally funded projects.
  • To ensure relocation assistance is provided to displaced persons to lessen the emotional and financial impact of displacement.
  • To ensure that no individual or family is displaced unless decent, safe and sanitary housing is available within the displaced person’s financial means.
  • To help improve the housing conditions of displaced persons living in substandard housing.
  • To encourage and expedite acquisition by agreement and without coercion.

Some of our more notable projects include relocation consulting services for:

  • The Archdiocese of Miami
  • Atlantic Pacific Communities
  • Catholic Housing Services
  • The City of Ft. Lauderdale Housing Authority
  • The City of Sarasota
  • Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)
  • Broward County
  • Landmark Communities
  • The Seminole Tribe of Florida
